Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal information, aligned with Canada's PIPEDA and applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

Last updated September 1, 2026

1. Information we collect

  • Account and identity data: name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a salted hash), and profile photo.
  • Matrimonial biodata: birth year, gender, marital status, height, weight, hobbies, marriage preferences, caste, native place in India, family details, education, and occupation.
  • Location data: country, province/state, and city, used to route your application to the correct city authorizer.
  • Verification metadata: the timestamp at which you confirmed your email address, and the decision recorded by the city authorizer who reviewed your application.
  • Technical data: IP-derived country, browser session cookies required to keep you signed in, and basic security logs.

Membership is currently free, so we do not collect or process payment information of any kind.

2. How we use your information

  • To create, verify, and administer your membership.
  • To allow a city authorizer to review your eligibility for the Group.
  • To display your profile to other verified, active members for matrimonial purposes only.
  • To send service messages such as email verification codes, approval or decline notices, and important policy updates.
  • To protect the platform against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.

3. Legal basis and consent

We collect and use your personal information with your knowledge and consent, which you provide when you complete signup and accept this policy. Some information — such as caste, community affiliation, and family details — is sensitive; you provide it voluntarily and expressly consent to it being shown to other verified members. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions, by contacting us. Withdrawing consent will normally require closing your membership.

4. Who can see your profile

Your profile is visible only to other members whose accounts are active and verified, to the authorizer assigned to your city, and to administrators. Profiles are never publicly indexed by search engines. Photos are stored in a private bucket and served only through short-lived signed links.

5. Disclosure to third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only with service providers that operate the platform on our behalf, under contract and only for the purposes described in this policy: our database and authentication host, our email delivery provider, and the anti-spam provider used on our contact form. We may also disclose information where required by a valid legal request, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of members.

6. Cross-border storage

Our service providers may store or process data in Canada or the United States. Personal information stored in another country is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts and law enforcement. By using the platform you consent to this transfer.

7. Retention

We keep your personal information only as long as your membership is active, and afterwards only as long as necessary to meet legal or dispute-resolution obligations. Remaining data is deleted or anonymized.

8. Security

We use encryption in transit, row-level access controls, private photo storage, hashed passwords, and role-based administrative access. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and be cautious about the private information you choose to share with other members.

9. Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccuracies, request deletion of your account and data, request a copy of your data in a portable format, or withdraw consent. California residents may additionally request disclosure of the categories of information collected and may opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.

10. Children

The platform is intended for adults seeking marriage. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.

11. Member-to-member conduct

Copying, screenshotting, forwarding, or republishing another member's biodata or photograph without their explicit consent is prohibited and may result in removal from the Group.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to members within a reasonable period, and the revised policy takes effect when posted.

13. Contact us

To exercise any of your rights, or to raise a privacy concern, contact our privacy officer at spscanadaus@gmail.com or use our contact form. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or the attorney general or privacy regulator in your U.S. state.
